Rockefeller Center Christmas tree to be lit up "green" - Xinhua

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he hoped to set an example for the tens of millions of New Yorkers and tourists who see the tree every year. Using energy saving bulbs reduces the energy consumption of the holiday display from 3,510 to 1,297 kilowatt hours per day. Millions of New Yorkers and tourists are expected to come to see the tree during the holiday season. After the holiday season, the tree will be milled, treated and returned to Rockefeller Center as “green” lumber and made into symbolic door frames that will be used in select HFH building programs in New York City, the Gulf Coast, India and Brazil.

A lawyer for the county was present in the courtroom, and requested all media be removed before he addressed the court. The shoot will begin at 8am at Los Angeles restaurant Social Hollywood and will be directed by Wayne Isham, who created the video for her 2002 hit, I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman. The insider revealed that as Britney has a scheduled visit with Sean and Jayden today she will only be available to film for two hours, between 12pm and 2pm.

HOMETOWN TOURIST Where it's always Christmas - Indianapolis Star

A fiberglass copy in front of the new town hall is “dedicated to the children of the world” and in memory of Carl A. Now at its fourth location at the north end of the Kringle Place mall, the world’s only post office bearing the name of Santa Claus receives more than a half-million pieces of mail a year — about 10,000 of them from children addressed to Santa and the rest from adults wanting the Santa Claus, Ind. But with the support of Robert “Believe It or Not” Ripley, who sent Brown a 4-foot-wide postcard carrying the Santa Claus post office cancellation, and The Indianapolis News, which asked its readers to send letters of protest, Santa Claus was saved. Exhibits in five rooms detail the history of the town and its post office, and the evolution of Santa Claus Land to today’s award-winning Holiday World theme park, which draws a million customers a year. Veer slightly to the left on 245 and travel a tenth of a mile to the town’s original 22-foot-high Santa statue, dedicated “to the children of the world” in 1935.

Christmas tree auction shows price spike - BusinessWeek

Christmas tree shoppers should expect to pay more this season because of rising freight and fuel costs, according to the manager of a Christmas tree auction that bills itself as the country’s largest. About 200 bidders, most of them buying trees in lots for retailers in the Northeast, attended the auction. A six- or seven-foot-high Fraser fir of the most common grade sold at auction for $20-$24 and will probably retail in urban areas for $45-$65, he said. Most of the trees Courtney auctioned off were harvested from within 300 miles of the auction site in central Pennsylvania, with some Fraser firs originating in North Carolina.

Indonesians taken to Christmas Island - NEWS.com.au

A GROUP of 16 Indonesians rescued from a leaky vessel in the Timor Sea will be taken to Christmas Island to be assessed by immigration officials, the Federal Government says. The three men, three women and 10 children were picked up by Australian navy ships yesterday after they approached the Jabiru Venture, a converted oil tanker used as a floating production facility for the Jabiru oil field. A spokeswoman for Immigration Minister Kevin Andrews said today that the people would be taken by the navy to Christmas Island, 500km south of Jakarta, where Australia has an immigration processing centre. It was too early to speculate about whether the Indonesians would make an asylum claim, she said, and if so, whether they would be taken to Nauru under the government’s so-called Pacific solution. The Federal Government has spent hundreds of millions of dollars building a new immigration detention centre on Christmas Island, but it has been plagued by delays and is not yet completed.

The Joy Of Artificial Christmas Trees

Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way. Hey, who can ever get sick of that tune? It’s a classic. Your mom and dad sang it to you when you were still in diapers. Am I right or am I right? Okay, please tell me I’m right here, because my parents sang that thing over and over. Anyway, as you already know, that wonderful Christmas season is on the way. Although it may seem like we just did the holiday thing, it is right upon us once more. Time flies folks. So, what are you doing for this gay and gleeful Christmas season? Are you sticking around the old homestead and decking it out with millions of lights, statues, props, and nativity scenes? This sounds like a blast. Maybe you can finally beat that neighbor’s dazzling array. Okay, now for the big question; is it going to be an Artificial Christmas Tree or the real deal? Am I getting ahead of myself here?

When it comes to Christmas, the tree is always a big deal. Do you even know the reason we prop a decorated tree up in our living rooms? In all honesty it has nothing to do with Christianity like many people assume. In fact, it might even be related back to the pagans. Okay, you probably didn’t want to here that, but it is a tradition worth checking into. Knowledge is power, folks. Regardless, we all love to get that tree up and decorated each and every year. I think many of us have it up by the beginning of December. What can we say? We love the holidays. Personally I prefer an Artificial Christmas Tree. Now, I know what you’re thinking. How could I possibly prefer an Artificial Christmas Tree over the real deal. Well, it comes down to a few basic things. Number one; you don’t have to deal with the yearly routine of going out and paying some jacked up cost for a tree that’s going to die soon. Number two; you don’t have to deal with clean-up when you have an Artificial Christmas Tree. And number three; you don’t have to dispose of the tree after Christmas is done. Not to mention an Artificial Christmas Tree is less likely to catch on fire. Ah ha, you didn’t think of that one did you?

If you are looking for a nice Artificial Christmas Tree to celebrate this holiday season, then you may want to check out Lowe’s or Home Depot. These massive stores typically offer a variety. Oh and don’t forget that with an Artificial Christmas Tree you’ll already have one the following years as well.
