Christmas came early this year for hundreds of children in Centralia who were affected by last December's epic flooding. Thousands of toys were given away Saturday in a special "Christmas in the Sun" event.

The Linn Christmas Greeters are in dire need of volunteers for leadership positions. The group has provided gifts for low-income families, seniors and disabled people in the Albany area for about 30 years. Last year, it helped 752 families, or 2,143 individuals, including 224 seniors and disabled.
